Neurologist job description - Registered Migration Australia


The job of neurologist in Australia is to diagnose and treat internal human disorders and diseases using specialist testing, diagnostic and medical techniques. Medical Registrars training as Specialist Physicians are included in this unit group.

 

Tasks

  • examining patients to determine the nature and extent of problems after referral from General Medical Practitioners and other medical specialists, and undertaking laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures
  • analysing test results and other medical information to make diagnoses
  • prescribing and administering drugs, and remedial and therapeutic treatment and procedures
  • recording medical information and data
  • reporting specified contagious and notifiable diseases to government health and immigration authorities
  • may admit or refer patients to hospitals
  • may consult other medical specialists

 

Skill Level

Occupations in the neurologist unit group (Group 2533) have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification, two years hospital-based training, and at least five years specialist study and training (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).


Registration or licensing is required in Australia as a neurologist.

English Requirement

 

  • IELTS result with a minimum score of 6 (L, R, W), 7 in speaking and 7 overall;
  • OET result with a minimum grade B in all sections;
  • TOEFL iBT with a minimum score (L:12 R:13 W:21 S:23 overall L93);
  • PTE Academic with a minimum score of 50 (L, R, W), 65 in speaking and 65 overall

  • Countries exempt from submitting IELTS or OET include the UK; Canada; New Zealand; US; and Ireland

 

Where mandatory licensing or registration is required you must demonstrate a level of English either sufficient to meet licensing / registration or a minimum IELTS, or equivalent, whichever is higher.
